"Supervalu Acquires Unified Grocers"

"Supervalu Shorts Running To Cover Stock At Almost 5% Short Interest"

Supervalu moves to acquire C&S Wholesale Grocers west coast competitor, Unified Grocers. Today, April 10th both Supervalu and Unified Grocers announced both boards had approved the purchase by Supervalu of Unified Grocers.

Many smaller points can be made but the key concern is the wholesale grocer community is getting smaller by the day. Again, as we wrote last week, Supervalu and C&S Wholesale Grocers are in control of an industry where its members are shrinking.

"Supervalu & C&S Wholesale Grocers Continue To Eliminate Competition"

Like we discussed last week, 2017 will be an interesting year in wholesale grocery and its becoming more interesting by the minute. Supervalu together with C&S Wholesale Grocers are eliminating the competition.

One major point...Supervalu's president Mark Gross and much of his management team were former longtime C&S Wholesale Grocer executives. These C&S executives were allowed to move freely by C&S into the most senior Supervalu positions.

C&S Wholesale Grocers is well known for their restrictive contracts and employee non-competition agreements. In this unique case C&S seemingly either had no agreements in place with these now Supervalu employees or chose not to observe the agreements and allowed each executive to become a Supervalu team member.

Keep in mind Mark Gross and his team from C&S Wholesale Grocers were senior financial executives as well as C&S management team members. All leaving C&S again seemingly for different reasons and then becoming Supervalu stars?

This is an article based only on my opinion with no outside influence other than financial information available in the public domain.

Many have asked why I choose to write about what I see in the supermarket industry today and my ideas. At PreparedFoodPhotos.com & Adlife we believe great ideas and the resulting branding will give new life and direction to any company. So for that reason we chose to open the discussion.

Yes, I understand I probably misspelled something or butchered the English language is a few places, the goal however was to open your minds to new ideas.
